Brazil is the largest coffee producing country in the world, accounting for around 33% of the world’s beans. Santos is actually the port where the original coffee plants were imported into Brazil. Bourbon Santos comes from beans that are collected during the first four years of the plants’ growth. The “younger” beans are considered to be of a higher quality than beans produced in later crops.
